New client consultation for dogs
We work with dogs with all types of aggression, fears, anxiety, phobias, frustration, reactivity, separation-related behaviors, destruction issues, potty training, leash walking issues, dog play problems, recall failures, difficulty with medication administration, and adjusting to a new home (just to name a few). Consultations are remote via video call.
Training sessions
Consultation for behavior issues will require follow-up in-home training or behavior modification sessions for most clients to help your pet learn the skills they need to resolve their behavior issue. We offer in-home training services because the best place to train is the environment where the behaviors occur.
New client consultation for cats
We help cats with all types of aggression, fears, anxiety, phobias, territorial behavior, separation-related behaviors, in home destruction, litter box issues, inhaler training, creating a low-stress home after a FLUTD diagnosis, urine marking, leash training, and more. Consultations are remote via video call.
Support for shelters and rescues
We help shelters, rescues, and animal welfare nonprofits with behavioral consultation, behavior modification, support for adopters and foster guardians, consultation related to animal hoarding victims, and staff/volunteer education. Services are available at a discounted rate.
Consultation for professionals
We provide behavior consultation and collaboration for veterinarians and dog trainers dealing with complex behavior cases, behavior euthanasia concerns, behavior cases with a medical differential, medication and inhaler administration training, cooperative care training, veterinary phobia, and staff education needs. Our consultations provide evidence-based guidance to help resolve persistent issues in clinical or training environments.
Our process
We know it can be difficult to get your bearings when it comes to training and behavior modification options. To help make our process as understandable as possible, here are the six basic steps we go through with each client.
1. Connect with us
Email us if you have any questions about our services or to schedule an appointment. We will send you a training waiver before consultation or training beginss.
2. Consultation
Our consultation is a behavioral diagnostic interview, where we cover your pet's background and medical history; activities and environment; relationship to you, your family, and other pets; and behavior issues. The goal is to answer any questions you may have about your pet's behavior, to understand what is happening, and which factors may be contributing to the issue.
3. Behavior plan
After consultation, we will develop a behavior plan with our environmental, enrichment, training, and veterinary referral recommendations; and email the plan within a week of your consultation.
4. Working together
We will coordinate with your schedule to provide hands-on training at your home, or we can work with you to teach you to do what is needed yourself. Either way, we will stay in touch afterward to see how you and your pet are doing.

Rates
We want quality behavior support to be within reach for all animals
We charge a standard hourly rate of $100 that is applied to all services, including time spent:

Conducting a behavioral evaluation of your pet by video call (typically 1 to 2 hours)

Developing your behavioral recommendations and training plan (typically 1 to 1.5 hours)

Communicating with your veterinarian and pet insurance companies, if needed (typically 1 hour)

Traveling to and from your home for any in-person evaluation or training session (varies, travel is from North Portland)

All in-person training (varies depending on need, (sessions typically last less than 1 hour). For pets with severe behavior issues, additional in-person training may be indicated. In-person training requires your active participation.
Most cases fall in this range of 5 to 6 hours ($500 to $600). We bill incrementally via PayPal as services are provided to ensure that services are provided at a pace that is comfortable.
Behavioral emergencies will incur an additional fee of $200 for same day and/or after hours behavior intervention.
